From Te Anau we travelled alongside the Te Anau lake calling off first at the mirror lakes from some great mirror reflections of the Southern Alps. Further into the Fjords we passed the Lake Gunn and the divide and walls of snow from previous avalanches. Through the 1.2k Homer tunnel, there were hundreds of waterfalls as it had been raining early in the morning and back down to sea level at the start of Milford Sound we got onto our cruise boat out through the sound. We had a great view of Mitre peak on the way out but the clouds closed in around the tops of the mountains. The big waterfalls and vertical cliff faces rising from the sea were world class while we cruised by. We were dropped off at the underwater observatory where we seen lots of fishes and other stuff, on the way down I spotted the split between the fresh water layer which sits on top of the sea which was about 3 metres deep because of the amount of rain Milford gets. Luckily we didn't get stuck in Milford or cleaned out by any of the avalanches and got out alright and back to Qtown for a teapot with Kerri.
