So within hours of arriving in this place I can clearly say that this is my favourate place so far! Vietnam has a real French feel about it anyway, but in this place I could seriously be in the middle of France. Lots of quaint little wooden houses in little cobbled streets, fishing boats all lined up and a real buzz about the harbour's edge, and over 200 tailors to spend your money in! The first night I enjoyed a beautiful traditional Vietnamese dish, where the chef even came out to chat with me. On the way back to the hotel I passed many taylors, so I took a closer look. By the time I left I had been measured up for a coat and two tops. My spending continued this way over the next few days, eventually leaving with an additional dress, skirt and leather flip-flops! How to order; either, you see something you like, or they pull out the Next catalogue and you choose...brilliant! It's all ready within 12hrs of ordering and some are made in the shop!
The next day we hired a bike to meet the boys, who had managed to get on the wrong bus so ended up in the wrong town! We went to China Beach, a place where American Troops had a camp during the war. So we set of on what turned out to be a long and painful 25km ride (with no map!) forgetting that the Vietnamese aren't a masive fan of road signs! Eventually we found them, only to find them as pised off as we were, having been given a dodgy bike which broke and they crashed out...luckily no one was hurt!
A wonder through the streets of Hoi An the following day reunited me with James, the highly annoying English guy from Halong Bay. It was a pleasant suprise to see him again and listen to more of his bull sh*t stories! Sadly he was moving on so only a brief encounter with him!
