hello!!!
well this is the last instalment from emily and johannas big adventure as we fly home tomorrow, a fact which i am quite excited about!! it had been an absolutely amazing 5 months but i cant wait for a lovely mormal cup of tea and of course to see all ur lovely faces again! so here goes witht the last little leg, dont worry it wont be long!
from arequipa we got on the last of our night buses down to nazca after a lovely rooftop party in our hotel, and arrived into the not so lovely town of nazca early the next morning. nazca is rubbish! it basically all fell down a few years ago when there was a massive earthquake and the government have only really bothered building the hotels again they didnt bother with the town or peoples houses- nice of them! consequently as i wasnt going to do the flight over the nazca lines we did infact spend our time at the hotel sat by the pool in the sun loving being down at a normal altitude with glorious sunshine!!
the next day we headed to pisco, but on our way made a few stops. the first was to go to the platform where u can see some of the nazca lines, they were very uninspiring from that perspective and it made me quite glad i hadnt spent the $90 on the flight! the next spot was an oasis in the middle of the desert where we had some lunch then headed out into the sandunes on asand buggy and went sand boarding- so much fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!! we were lying down on the snowboard type things and were whipping down some pretty long steep dunes and picking up some serious pace, getting air at the end than falling with a crash ensuring some pretty good bruises b y the end! awesome!! :D and even the dune buggy was great fun going up and down the dunes again with some serious speed, i was asat right int he front and loving it!! from there we headed to a pisco distillery wehre we got to try lots of different types of pisco-foul stuff i have to say! much better in a pisco sour than straight!! and then it was finally on to pisco itself, which if nazca was bad this place was aweful. there was litterally nothing but rubble to the town. and tho they had some great sea food, and it was lovely being bby the pacific, it was not the beautiful blue seas and white sands u would expect of the pacific, rather it felt like blackpool in off season- nice! we were only there one night luckly before leaving the next morning to head up to lima and to the end of our tour.
we got to lima on the day of their b ig independence day parade which was not eactly the best parade in the world but did manage to get in the way, a lot! tim and i eventually becoming part of the parade when we tried to cross and they let us in from one side but wouldnt let us out the other side, so we smiled a laughed our way along the parade until they let us out. we wandered down to the beach, managing to find the big american style complex where we have since spent most of our time, either in the cinema or in starbucks or just chilling out killing time! so we r now in lima, which tho not the nicest city ever is not aweful, but we are at the end of our trip, broke and very much looking forward to heading home. south america has been awesome, tho peru, apart form the inca trail, has been probably my least favourite country.
i hope these updates have given a fair representation of our trip, there are probably many things ive forgot, but they have covered all the important things and basically told u hopefully, that we have had an awesome time!
so its lots of love and see u very soon!!!! x x x x
