Started to get slightly more settled into a rountine, or a least with plans for the orphanges. I've started painting on the outside of the boys dorm at pistis which also looks out on to the entrance and part of the playground. I planning to paint a big mural type thing, but i haven't finalised my idea yet, someone suggested animas and the alphabet, im not too sure about the whole animal thing though, don't know if i really have the skills.
Gareth took baloons and bubbles into pistis and the kids went mental for them. the balloons didn't last long on the stones and there wern't very many, but the bubbles went down so well. The kids were all chasing them, i think we had about 50 kds surrounding us trying to catch them. The kids there also love looking at my tongue and belly peircings. They're quite disgusted about the tongue peircing but they all go running off to find they're friends so they can see.
We also took the youngest of the st anns kids swimming, all 2 and 3 years old, and most of them were scared of the water an cried alot, we finally managed to get all of them sat on the side kicking their legs in the water, the older kid with us martin who was ill and so not in school loved it though. For charlottes last weekend she wants to take all 20 swimming and have a party with them, that could be kind of interesting, were hoping the older kids wont be quite so scared. And next time ill have to remember to bring my insect repellant as i got bitten to death!
We've also made mandazi for the kids at springs of hope orphanage (mandazi is like a doughtnut type fried cake) which we've done twice now, no idea if the kids enjoyed it but the staff loved them! They kept on sneaking back in the kitchen for more.
On my birthday we went out to thompson falls, which is basically just a rather large waterfall about and hour drive from nakuru. To be fair just the drive there is worth it, fantastic scenery and you go through quite a few small villages, and i passed through the equator too, unfortuntly we didn't stop to see the water drainning 2 different ways. The waterfalls were pretty cool, got soaked walking down the bottom from the spray, and got attack by many colonies of ants, i already hate the ants out here, they bite and stay attached to your legs!
We decided to do fancy dress for my birthday night and finally settled on a toga night, then after not being able to find and white sheets we decided to do togas out of bedsheets. Although we had so much of a stress barginning with the stall holder that we almost gave up, we had to stop bethany from killin him. We got the girls in zebra duvets, iwan in a bob the builder cover, and gareth in a playboy cover. We didn't get stared at any less than normal though! Someone also, as a birthday tradition (apparntly) poured beer all over my head, which was not a fun experience!
