Luang Prabang is a picturesque French colonial city situated at the junction of the Mekong and another river. The city felt more like a village and the locals were so relaxed and laid back. So much so that it was common to see market traders sleeping on the floor! We spent the next 4 days doing not a lot more than sitting by the river in cafes and frequenting the bars and restaurants in the town centre. One lazy afternoon after a few beerlaos's (very nice local beer!) and fruits juices for Amy we decided to climb the 328 steps to a small temple. The temple itself was nothing special, but the views were really something! Each evening we passed through the night market which predominantly sold silk items and other handmade goods; we bought a nice silk scarf and a cheap bag. It was so quiet when passing through the market we almost felt we had to whisper to each other! During our stay we did visit a waterfall and passed through a tribal village on route. The water was a beautiful turquoise colour and we spent a few hours cooling off in the icey water. The pool must have had some hungry fish in as i constantly felt them biting my ankles!
