Brisbane was my first state in Queensland and I arrived on Saturday afternoon and pretty much got ready to go out for the night. I met up with an Aussie that I met in Sydney and joined him for a night out with his friends. During my travels in Australia I have actually met very few Australians, as the hostels are full of other international people so it was a welcomed change to hang out with the locals. We spent Saturday night in Fortitude Valley (or just the valley to the locals) in the "The Elephant & Wheelbarrow", but went home reasonably early ready for the Sunday night which was to be all the more epic.
On Saturday during the day I had a whistle stop tour of the city taking in the sights of the Botanic Gardens and Southbank (complete with its own "eye" reminiscent of London's own Southbank). We stopped off for brunch before I indulged in an afternoon nap ready for the next night out.
Sunday night I was treated to a BBQ and a few drinks before venturing to "The Elephant & Wheelbarrow" again, as well as Tempo for $3 Corona's and then Family nightclub. The plan was to stay up to watch the World Cup, but unfortunately I could barely keep my eyes open and bailed on the plan. There was a lazy start to the next morning before packing up my belongings and catching the Greyhound to Noosa.
