Thursday
Today we went to a theme park called Ocean Park where we got to see Pandas up close. Beautiful creatures, very calm and relaxed. We also saw sawsharks and millions of different vareties of sea life including a giant octopus and sea dragons. The theme park was spread across a mountain so we took a spectular cable car ride over the edge of the mountain with wonderful views of Causeway bay and the surrounding coastline. After doing all the attractions in the park we wanted we left and headed to Stanley and to the Stanley Market where I picked up some lovely chinese wall pieces and clothes for some amazing prices. Anne, who I am staying with speaks fluent chinese so was able get me some great bargains!
That evening we went to Jumbo for dinner which is a floating restuarant, This beautiful boat is heavily adorned in classic chinese architecture with dragons, bats and patterns. It is decorated in lights as well and is incredably striking, similar to the picture above bright red and green with white lights. We sat on the top deck to enjoy our meal and then took the short boat ride back to shore and came back to our friends apartment in Causeway bay to relax.
Friday
Today I didn't really have much time because I had a flight in the afternoon. This morning we went to play bowling at John's local bowling alley. After that we went back and I said goodbye to their dogs at the apartment and then We all headed off to the airport. After a quick meal at the airport it was time for me to go my own to Australia. First of all I had a three hour flight to Singapore which was a new experience for me because it was my first flight on my own. As per usual I made the most of being able to watch the in flight entertainment and I was pretty much there. Singapore airport on my own was initially quick scary on my own but I quickly got over this as I had to get myself to my transfer flight desk. Luckily this was a very well signposted airport and it was all in English! Singapore airport was huge but I managed to make it to my gate before it had been opened so I made it in plenty of time. I had to go through another security check at Singapore airport to get into the gate lounge- shows how tight their security is! It was a lot warmer here it had gone from 16 degrees to 30 degrees on the plane journey so I was feeling the heat!
Eventually I boarded my second flight and was sat next to an Australian guy who lived in Perth which was great for me because I got to chat to him about where I was going and about other parts of Australia and New Zealand. By now I was pretty tired so I don't remember awful lot of the flight as I wasn't going to land in Perth until around 2am.
