We travelled to Chiang Mai from Bangkok via the overnight sleeper train. It was suprisingly comfortable and we both slept like babies (when do babies sleep well in real life? silly saying!). Chiang Mai is a busy bustling city in which the older parts are surrounded by ancient walls and a moat. We found ourselves a nice hotel (oooh! we've gone up in the world from tents and hostels) run by a Franco-Swiss chap. Its very nice and even has a minibar, no air-condition...

After Bangkok's intensisty we decided to head south to the islands. We took an overnight coach and then a ferry over to Ko Tao. We booked through a 'tourist travel agency' and were only given receipts, no tickets. We were quite glad that we actually got there as we weren't sure anyone would honour the receipts! Ko Tao was beautiful. We stayed in our own little bungalow right on a rocky beach. Without realising it, this turned out to be the best beach for snorke...

We just tried to put some pictures on as promised but Matt got a nice electric shock off the USB port so we've decided against it. When computers are less damgerous we'll put some more photos on. love Jo and Matt

We made it from Australia to Bangkok, via Singapore. First impressions of Bangkok are; hot and smelly! We got a bright pink taxi from the Airport to our hotel near the infamous Khao San Rd. Bangkok is noisy and a bit mad. We spent our first day sorting our Indian Visa. The road and address system over here is so confusing not even taxi drivers really understand. Visa is now all sorted. So far we've been to the Grand Palace and a few others! We've eaten lots ...

We had a lovely time in Sydney. The weather was really good and we were well looked after by Ingrid and Loui. We has a few simply relaxing which weirdly was much needed. Ingid took us up to the Blue Mountains (so we're told!). The weather was very English... wet and cloudy. We have renamed them the White-out mountains as you could see nothing.
