On our way to Hervey Bay we called in at Bundanberg and visited their Ginger Beer Factory, it's still made using the traditional method. Then on to Mon Repos the photo's us on the beach, one of the largest Turtle nesting beaches in Australia you can stay up all night to view them coming ashore and laying their eggs, we didn't have time but saw tracks in the sand from the night before. Watched fireworks on Torquay Beach, Hervey Bay 8:00 New Years Eve, it was packed and it was a great display then off to bed early. Up at the crack of dawn to go on a trip to Frazer Island (biggest sand Island in the world) we toured it in a 4x4 coach and it was rough, mostly rainforest with crystal clear lakes and a runway on the east coast for light aircraft with a highway the length of the island and speed signs being policed by the local Bobbies. Again no swimming in the sea, lots of nasties out there. John & Gail
