Only two days left of my trip and i want to see as much as possible of Miami area.. whats better than to go to Everglades.. hunting alligators. Woei offered to take me to the everglades, to the spot where the TV series GatorBoys is made. This area of the everglades has taken care of alligators, alligators that are found in peoples homes, in their pools and on the roads, instead of killing the alligators they bring them here where they stay for 1-2 years and then is released back to the wild. They transport them further into the everglades before release them...
So we started our day at the Everglades in a boat. An air boat and wow... we drove soooo fast and our driver, the only female one.. she really knew how to drive and turn to make it fun... wind was blowing in my face and my heart was racing with the excitement.
Trying to explain what the everglades looks like... hmmm well its like canals with water and small ponds with water and everywhere you look there are water lilies... lots and lots and lots of them. On the bank there were lots of small trees, some call them the tree of life, because they have green apple hanging from them, but they are not for eating... those apples are poisonous...
In the everglades you can find lots of different birds and animals... most of the animals are dangerous and the guide told us to keep hands and heads inside the air boat... but we did make a stop or two where we looked at some really beautiful birds... and they even ate from my hand at one point.. This was the bird that eat from my hand...
American Purple Gallinule. Gallinules are spectacular creatures. The can be found walking on water lilies in the canals throughout the Everglades.
we also saw this bird... Turkey Vulture ~ Cathartes aura ~ Turkey Vultures are characterized by their bald heads and curved beaks. They have a six foot wingspan. Adults have red heads and white bills. Immature Turkey Vultures have dark heads and bills. They eat carrion, dead or badly injured animals that take no work to catch.
and of course we saw... It was a good day... lots of things to see and feel and do..
