Hey guys.
Right now I am in the south of Chile with Heidi. We are staying in a small town called Pucon. It´s a really small touristy city that offers everything do to with nature; hiking, rafting, canyoning, horseback riding, ziplining, beaches. We´ve seen a lot of gringos here, heard a lot of English and French speakers since we arrived yesterday morning.
Our hostal is really nice. It´s kind of on the outskirts of town but it´s big and really quiet. That could also be because it´s just us and the owners currently staying here. It´s been raining since we got here which is a bummer because the town is so small and doesn´t really offer a whole lot beyond the outdoor excursions. Today we just walked around, did a little shopping, ate lunch at a nice place, had some tea at another place and went to a tour agency to set up our week.
Wednesday we are going to climb a volcano. I´m going to climb a freaking volcano! The volcano Villarrica is the most active volcano in all of Chile. The climb to the crater takes about 7-8 hours. I know it´s going to be harder than they make it seem but I´ll be so proud when I get to the top. Thursday we are doing a tour of the area. The agency takes us to see waterfalls, lagunas, etc and ends with a two hour tour of natural hot springs. Friday we are doing ziplining, which is something I´ve always wanted to try. They guides from the agency seem really nice and make us feel really safe so I´m excited for all of it. They gave us an offer too because we´re doing more than 1 activity with them. We get to do the hike up the volcano, tour and zipline all for 63,000 which is equal to about 120 bucks. not bad.
Tomorrow´brings more rain. :( But we are going to make the most of it. We´re going to a spa to get our hair done and get pedicures and then will probably do some more souvenir shopping. Pucon has the best chocolate in all Chile (that´s what my host mom tells me) so maybe I´ll bring some home for you guys to try. Chocolate and some Pisco (liquor).
Friday we head back to Vina, back to the warm weather and the beach, back to spend some time with our friends before everyone leaves to their homeland.
Con un besito,
Jessica
