We made it to Frankfurt!
Our flight left SFO at 3:00 PM on the 25th. I got to sit in lucky row 88. I consider myself lucky because I wasn't stuck next to the screaming 3 year old (even though I could still hear her screaming loudly 10 rows back) and there was only a wall in front of me.
We were served dinner (braised beef) an hour into our flight. I definitely partook in having wine with dinner! I then proceeded to watch 4 movies I had been wanting to see (Room, The Danish Girl, The Theory of Everything, and half of The Martian.) After an unappetizing omelette breakfast and some turbulence, we landed in Frankfurt at about 10:20 am.
We quickly went through the passport check and waited about 20 minutes to get our bags. We were shocked we didn't have to go through customs.
We then went to the arrival area to look for our shuttle transfer. Long story short, the transfer never arrived and we ended up taking an expensive cab ride to our hotel 6 miles away.
We were able to check in immediately and decided it would be a good idea to have Mimi go to the ATM to get some Euros. We headed to a gas station with an ATM in front and came back to our hotel for a nap.
After a few hours of relaxing we met our tour guide Dory (like the fish!) and the 44 other people on our tour. It's mostly middle aged and retired couples but there are a few teens and a couple other thirty-somethings. There are mostly Aussies, Americans, Brits, and a few Kiwis.
We then headed out to find a grocery store to look for something for dinner. Turns out, everything around our hotel is closed on Sundays. I ended up having the woman behind the desk at the hotel order me a small cheese pizza delivered to my room. It was either that or sushi...
After laying out clothes and packing for tomorrow, I've decided that 6 am wake up call was going to come pretty early. Off to Berlin tomorrow!
