Getting into Malaysia was scary. Arriving, there was barely anybody around, and no tourists at all. Luckily I had met a couple on the bus there so we decided to stay together to stay in Kuala Beset for the night before getting the boat over to the Perhentians. The taxi driver drove us to the agency to buy the boat tickets where the owner decided I was to be his girlfriend, picked me up over his shoulder and then followed us to the hostel. Actually f*** my life, but at least I couldnt have looked that bad after 11 hours travelling. The hostel was pretty much a crack den with the locals trying to feed us drugs and beer. The next morning we took the speedboat over to the island (most painful 20mins of my life). Eventually we got accommodation - more of a crack den than the last one complete with bright pink walls with lightening stikes and drip shower with roots growing out the head. But the island was literally paradise. No roads, just guesthouses and restaurants on the beach, crystal water and jungle. The snorkelling was the best I had done yet, just having to swim 100 meters round the rocks to see incredible fish. However, getting back to the crack den only to find a mouse in my bed meant sleeping was to be difficult for the next couple of nights.
The next day we took a snorkelling tour around the islands and again saw amazing fish and coral and sharks!! It was incredible how much they looked like great whites, just a smaller version. However, me and Tor were not so graceful around it and just screamed through our snorkles and waved alot. On one of the islands we saw baby turtles of 10mins old, held them and raced them down the beach. Lastly, we eventually found the sea turtles.
That night we just hung out at the beach bars and then the next day it was time for me to move on to KL :( Loved the Perhentians
