TK - Our bus was leaving was leaving for the airport at 10.20am and our 3 day pass for the Angkor Temples was still valid so Nik, Ruth, Jules and I took the opportunity to visit one more temple for the sunrise. Bakong temple is one of the oldest and another representation of Mount Neru which is an east facing pyramid with outlying temples and a moat.
When we arrived at Bakong Temple it was still dark and there wasn't a single person around. We found our way through the ruins by torchlight and climbed to the top accompanied by the sound of cockerels and cicadas. It was cloudy so we didn't see the sunrise, however once it got light we explored the complex and enjoyed the peace and solitude.
Once back at the hotel we had breakfast and got ready to leave for our flight.
