We have made it to the cook islands, but it is way too expensive for us, the people we booked our hostel with didnt come and pick us up, so we got a lift with this random guy who didnt say a word in the car...but it was fine, then the actual room was not made up, they hadnt got our booking?!and the room is tiny and dirty. It was 4 in the morning so we were very tired and tried to get some sleep-was hard to as greg had found a dead cockroach on the floor by his bedside-lovely!!so tried to ignore that and get some rest.... So we are looking to change hostels but most places are a minimum of $80 per night...so we may have to change our flights so that we leave earlier, otherwise we'r just going to be borrowing money which i hate:( the weather here is rubbish aswel, its hot but its raining today. As you can probably gather i'm not in a very good mood, but hopefully we'l perk up after some food or something-which by the way would have usually cost half of what we payed here than in NZ:(
So we'r not in too good a mood, but we'l try and sort something out, wil probably be ringing the padres for a chat if we can afford to make the call!!!thanx for the comments megs xxxxxxxxxxxxx
Update from last bit, we went and ate our food, then got the bus around the island, and it isnt very big at all...we then decided to leave the hostel we were in(the one with the cockroach) and we payed, the lady let us off the full price as said she wouldnt have given us that room if she'd of known there were two of us, and she didnt charge us for the day because they can sometimes charge u a late check out fee. So we were lucky in that sense. So we walked to the bus stop with all of our bags-we have quite a few now and they are soooo heavy! we waited for over an hour for the bus, and then had to pay $4 each and an extra $2 per bag!!cheeky or what!!!! So we arrived at this hostel, which we have discovered is actually a hotel that have decided to accomodate for backpackers, but didnt think about laundry facilities or cooking facilities either!!so we have a hole heap of washing that is still dirty, and loads of food that we cant cook here. We were starving as have only eaten a packet of biscuits and a french stick today between us, so had to find the cheapest thing on their menu in the restaurant. greg had a cheese pizza ($10) and i had a greek salad ($8.50) which they brought to me and told me they didnt have the dressing for it so had put mint sauce on it instead!!!i couldnt believe that, but was absolutely starving so ate it all anyway, screwing my mouth a few times as it was so sharp!!!!!!!
So i think tomoro we will have to leave this place and try another backpackers...which has cooking facilities as we cant afford to eat out all the time, and need cheap accomodation. We also will go to the airport and see if Air New Zealand can change our flights and come home as soon as possible according to gre. Which i think sounds like we have given up, but i think we will just have to give in,we both have hardly any money left, the weather here isnt that great so we cant do a lot anyway so all in all, i think it would be better to be home??what does everyone think?I know that means that mum and dad probably cant pick us up and i will have messed up dads day off, but we wil get the train back or something. THIS IS NOT DEFINITE YET. so before you go filling it in with patients hold your horses for 2secs!!i will ring you soon and let you know, as will greg, we are just looking forward to a better nights sleep as it is soooo cleana nd tidy here!! and enjoy a dip in the pool in the morning!!
Lots of love to you all, xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
