Jane and Ali's USA tour!
......How to start the next journal installment?? Well lets just say that San Diego wasn't our favourite place in california! San Francisco wins hands down; the further we get from San Fran the more we wanna go back :( especially to haight street and the Golden Gate Park. Unfortunately we can't really say that for San Diego! The hostel was nice and quaint, but the bathroom situation was lame (4 bathrooms between over 100 people!!)... it was however quite lax regarding alcohol on site :) which meant that even though there wasn't many bars and restaurants, you could still have your own little party at the hostel. Which was what we did the first night with Dee (a scot) and Mel (ozzy), our two very entertaining room mates!
To be honest i've found it really hard to write this journal, and it's not due to lack of events that occurred at San Diego 'cos there were many! Nor is it the fact that we didn't have fun 'cos we did. Perhaps it's just writers block! So i'm gonna finish it another day when I can do San Diego and my writing ability justice!
......okay this is the 2nd attempt!!
Ocean Beach; San Diego......sun, sea, sand and surf! It was the latter that was more appealing ;-) namely the really cute muscular surfer guys that made tanning onself quite entertaining! hee hee Ocean Beach is famous for its hot waves for surfing, this meant that the small beach was constantly packed out even midweek; not so good. At least we had the opportunity to top up our tans :)
Dee and Mel kept us entertained for the first couple of nights and then b*****ed off back to LA :p it wasn't so bad though 'cos on the 2nd day in san D we made a few more aquainances from the hostel when we went to see our 1st baseball match! San Diego Padres vs Atlanta braves. The stadium was impressive and there was a 40,000 + crowd....full of typical americans! It isn't as entertaining as football, or any english sport to be honest, but we had a good day, sat drinking very overpriced (american *fuff*) beer pretending to know the rules hee hee. The highlight of the afternoon had to be two silly ozzy's that were from the hostel, namely 'cowgirl barbie' and 'action man ken' (both very plastic and complete attention seekers...oh and FAKE BLONDE GRRR) getting on kiss cam and dancing with a really obese american child, much to the delight of the pathetic american crowd!
Our third day was spent at the famous San Diego zoo with holly, amy and jamie; which is meant to be one of the best in the world but personally we thought Edinburgh (sp??) zoo was more impressive! But then again, they didn't have any pandas! It was an enjoyable experience nether the less and passed the time away.
We didn't really think all that much of San Diego but are glad that we went. It would probably have been a fantstic place if we were into water sports. We did meet some really nice people though; Big shout outs to dee, mel, holly, amy, seb and jamie!!
We had a very eventful journey to vegas on the greyhound, which seems to be the hotspot for weirdo's and domestic/random situations! A 7 hour bus ride took 10 hours due to a custody battle occuring when trying to leave San Bernadino (sp??)!! With a father trying to take his 3 children back to Vegas where he had recently set up home....the mother;s brother refused to leave the coach and phoned the police insisting that the father didn't have custody!! Sure enough the police arrived and it turned out the poor father did have custody **yay** on went the journey! We arrived safe and sound in vegas if you havn't already gathered...to a very hot (112 degreed f) vegas :) :) :)
.......the journey continues....hee hee Vegas Baby!
