The drive back to Christchurch wasnt too bad but did take most of the day but we got to Chirstchurch about 3pm, we then decided to go and do the Antartica centre there as we had time, so we went in and saw little blue penguins and experienced an Antarctica storm and normal temp (-8) and we learnt lots about Antartica.
The next day we then had a long lie in and then mooched around Christchurch a bit took the van to be washed and then met up with the irish lot for dinner as they'd just arrived in CC and it was the last time we'd see them - until they visit us in sunny Macc! We then went for a couple of drinks then parked up outside the depot and went to bed.
Tuesday we got up early and finished sorting out the inside of the van before our shuttle bus came for us at 8am - as Qantas had emailed us the day before to tell us our flight had changed - good job we checked the email! So we got the airport and then Vic discovered she'd left her camera in the campervan so we had to ring them and ask them to courier it up to Auckland so she could collect it there the next day.
The flight was uneventful and we landed in Auckland grabbed some lunch then got a taxi over to the wicked depot and picked up our new van which is much girly being pink and flowery and it has cool pics of the beatles on it, although the actual van is a lot more decrepid so we're just hoping it holds out the week. We then drove into the city centre to the info centre and booked ourselves on a maori/thermal tour in Rotorua, a skydive in lake taupo and a caving/abseiling/blackwater rafting experience in waitomo caves. So its going to be a fun filled week. We then drove to the outskirts to do shopping and to find a campervan park, where we parked up and spent the night.
The next morning as we had to wait around in Auckland for Vics camera to be delivered I decided to do a bungy jump that Id seen advertised at the info centre so at 11.30 i got picked up by the A.J.Hackett company and taken to the bottom of the Auckland harbour bridge which we climbed up and then BUNGIED!! i was scared but so glad i did it now!! and i have the photos and Tshirt to show for it. We then went to pick up Vics camera and then got on our way to Rotorua.
Today in Rotorua we went to Te Puia where we had a guided tour around showing us live shooting geysers, hot mud pools, kiwis (odd creatures!!), and a maori show which included the 'warriors' doing the haka. It was a good show and to see the geysers and bubbling mud was just random so weird to see these rocks steaming and so hot to sit on!! and the water shooting about 10m in the air!
Well we've just got down to Taupo ready for our Skydive tomorrow morning weather permitting (fingers crossed!). Will prob not update now till we get back in Auckland, but if i get a chance of course I'll be ready to tell you about our jump! :)
