Jen's Journeys
After a 7 am bus to the airport yesterday, I quickly parted ways with Jeanne and 12 of the kids and got our two remaining travelers (who were both headed to Vigo, Spain to visit people they have hosted in the past) checked in and through security. Our flights were a couple of hours after the group, so we found a nice quiet spot to sit out the wait. I saw them onto their jetway and then headed to my gate. A couple of hours later, I was in Amsterdam! Deb and the girls came as quickly as they could after the girls got out of school, and we hopped on the train/tram, headed up the steep and narrow stairs to their place and got settled in for the night. It's time to relax and see some new things! Last night we just sat at the table and chatted and drank beer. Glorious! Today the girls had some after school activities, so Deb and I went out to check out the outdoor market, grabbed some lunch, found the "I Amsterdam" area, and went to one of the main plazas and...had a beer. :) Then Deb was off to be a super mom for the Rainbows (British Brownies) and I've been typing away. And now they are all home, and we are having a beer. :)

BLT Two cuties for sure!
Joan Blaschke How long are you in Amsterdam? Now...this is a vacation! The student trip is really another teaching adventure but...worthwhile for all. If you have time, tell me the name of your hotel in Barcelona--#stars, pros and cons. We are thinking of going in Sept. Enjoy your respite.
Joan Blaschke You look casual and relaxed !! Now this is what summer is all about. A definite change of pace. Daughter Amy loves Amsterdam and ...the good beer.
Jen Charles I come home from Europe on the 5th, so about one more week. My cousin and I are doing a 3-day weekend over in the Munich area, too. You nailed it - a real vacation! :) We stayed at the Tryp Apolo hotel. The hotel was REALLY nice, and the location was good, too. On Avenida Paral-lel, walking distance to the gothic barrio, las ramblas, the port, and right at a metro stop that also held the funicular to go up to Montjuic.
Jen Charles The beer is delicious. :)
