Jenn's Trip through Asia
Hi guys,
Long time no hear, I'm sorry but time was very limited in Lhasa and then I spent the last four days travelling overland through Tibet and to Kathmandu... which I've now reached and I'm grateful for it.
The Tibet trip was great but exhausting. The driving was more than adventurous and it's a complete miracle we made it alive. We saw some great monasteries along the way plus the Everest Base Camp... which was cool as well, if cold and we were once again battling with the altitude, it's at 5200m above sea level.
Accommodation along the way was... interesting. Clean, for the most part, but we never seemed to have any electricity in the mornings which meant packing and getting dressed was a nightmare. Plus the toilets got from bad to worse to unbearable so that in the end, mother nature was the much more bearable option. Food was limited to rice & cabbage or noodle soup... Now I'm in Kathmandu, where the toilets are okay, the food is fantastic, and everything's great. I'll be here until I fly home next week Saturday, and am considering taking some language and/or yoga & meditation classes. I've also started reading everything and anything by Vikram Seth. It's a nice chilled end to the trip.
I'll try and go back to my old school early next week. Let's see how the whole stepping into the same river twice thing is going to work out. Kathmandu has definitely changed lots but then again... not much at all in a different way.
Hope you're all well,
lots of love
