Hello everyone, I've made it to Laos, yeaahh!! Had a bit of a shock at the airport in Siem Reap... I'd banked on getting a visa to Laos on arrival at the airport, but when I re-checked the Lonely Planet it said one could get a visa at 'Vientiane or Luang Prabang airports', no mention of Pakse, where I was flying to... and I'd already made it through the security checks... so I figured I might be in for a nice few hours of debate with Lao immigration officials upon arrival, or forced to fly on to Vientiane. Plus, I'd also just had my first cup of coffee in a month... which served to increase my heartbeat like mad and I felt like I was on drugs and completely panicky and nervous!! So not a great start to Laos. In the end, all was well and I did get a visa on arrival. Was going to take a bus to Vientiane tomorrow morning, so I could travel during the day and see some of the countryside... but all buses are leaving in the evening, so I'm off tonight, very brief stay in Pakse and I'm very disappointed I won't get to see much of the countryside, boooh!! Should be in Vientiane by 6am Monday morning i.e. midnight UK time. Hope you're all well, lots of love Jn x
