Right here goes - we had a bit of a manic day trying to get down to Airlie beach on time as the silly lady in the booking office had placed us on the wrong bus, but hey that is another story!! When we got there is was raining and we had to literally run, in the rain, with a heavy backpack on, to the boat dock to find our home for the next 3 nights - Anaconda 3. Thankfully we were welcomed on board with a glass of champagne and as we sailed out of the harbour the rain cleared and I saw the clearest sky I had seen, I even saw three shooting stars!
The boat itself was gorgeous (check out the pics for yourselves) ended up sharing a cabin with 2 lads called Jimmy and Dave, it was small but comfy and the best part was you really couldn't tell that the boat was moving!! That night we travelled to a place called Hook Island and stayed there for the night.
The next day we sailed to Whitsunday Island and the famous Whitsunday Beach - the thing postcards are made of! I know they can super impose pics but the beach really was this beautiful. Before we got off the boat one of the crew members told us all to be careful of the sand spiders, he warned us to pat the sand before placing down our towels. If we heard a squeek we had t move quickly because we had just landed on ones home and it would come out and bite us!!! So of course we all got to the beach and patted the sand - only to be told by the cheeky sod when we returned to the boat that he was making it up!!!! Played some beach football though with some of the others and can you believe it - it rained on the Whitsundays!!!! Rubbish!!
Once we had set sail again to our place of rest for the night I saw loads of exciting things - turtles kept coming up to the top of the water and having a look around before diving back to the depts again - I saw so many I lost count, but it didn't get any less exciting!! I also saw 3 dolphins jumping out of the water and 2 sea eagles - muppet here didn't have her camera on her for any of this though so unfortunately I have no proof - you will just have to take my word for it!! hehe
That night we played 'Eat the box' yes it does sound a bit rude for you cheeky minded people out there but I assure you it wasn't. Check out the pics of Lau doing it and you will understand. You basically had to pick a box up off the floor using nothing but your mouth and only your feet were allowed to touch the deck!!! Once everyone had done it they cut some of the top of the box off!!! I got to the third round - which I was very impressed with cos as most of you know i'm not the most flexible of people!! We also played a game where you had to twist a broom around the whole of your body - this I could do!! Yippee. That eve I finally learnt how to play poker with the lads in our room - thankfully we didn't play for money cos I was rubbish!!!
The next day we sailed to Luncheon bay where I did some diving!! The coral here was exactly what I'd expected it was beautiful bright colours with scores of brightly coloured fish. After the diving we moved to Blue Pearl Harbour where we did some snorkling. The crew threw in fish food and you literally gor surrounded by fish - very cool! We had to wear stinger suits the whole time though cos the jelly fish were in season we did managed to see quite a few!!! Last night on the boat consisted of lots of drinking games with everyone on board, i think there was 32 of us in total. Mostly couples but everyone on there was brilliant some of them we are meeting up with again in Sydney.
Anyway on the last day we went back to Blue Pearl Harbour cos a couple of people wanted to do some diving - I went snorkling again didn't see any sharks :( but i did see a baracuda and a massise fish which was probabaly as big as a small shark!! One of the crew played some fish food on my stomach - on top of my stinger suit- and the fish were all jumping out of the water to get it - it tickled a lot! Oh yeah I also helped pulled the sails of the boat up!! Unfortunately we had to sail back to Airlie Beach :( where we had champagne again on our arrival - talk about spoilt! Then we spent the night as a large group out on the town, which was good fun.
I definately recommend this boat if anyone does this trip is was gorgeous and the crew was wicked. Michelle the chef was immense I have not eaten so well for a while mmmmmmmmmmm
The next day we spent chilling out by the lagoon and then caught our bus to Rainbow beach.
