I arrived In OZ!
Having said more emotional goodbyes I bid a farewell from Dore, Dores mum and Andy, and set off to Sydney. My friend from Nepal Liz met me at the airport and I am staying with her at her flat, in the very nice area called rose bay. Out of my window I can see the Rose bay harbour, lots of yachts and them plane things that land on water! Lol! Very pretty. I have seen the opera house and the bridge, been shopping in real shops where unlike Asia where a size ten is an XXL, I can actually buy clothes, and replace underwear that should have been replaced LONG ago (No Katy I didn't donate my pants to Nepal so they could be a tent for a small family!). Very quickly Christmas came around, in Liz's flat are two other girls, an Irish girl called Vanessa, and a Colombian girl called Sofia. Apparently in Colombia it is traditional to have Christmas dinner on Christmas eve, so Sofia decided that she would cook everything from scratch, despite the fact that she have never cooked a turkey before. She was in the kitchen for a couple of hours when I went in to get a drink and found her, crying!!! All she had done so far was break the bread in breadcrumbs for the stuffing and cut her thumb with a knife. Not going well so far. So I helped out, the years of stirring the gravy while mam made crimbo dinner I must have learnt a few things as we later had some nice turkey and stuffing and gravy and…… Salad!!!! We had no veg so tomatoes it was. Anyway by the time people arrive to eat Sofia was so stoned that none of it mattered and we all tucked in. Good effort by the girls but don't think ill be missing another of my mams crimbo dinners in a hurry!
On Christmas day it was cloudy!!!! Apparently one of the coldest Christmas days they have had in years! Great! But that didn't stop us as we headed out to Bondi beach with our picnic. There were loads of people there all English and Irish, was a really good atmosphere, had some drinks and mucked about on the beach. Boxing Day however was a real highlight. We first of all headed to the harbour to see the yacht set off and then went to the races. It was free entry to all foreigners, so we just walked straight in. I got to were my new red dress which pleased me and there was quite a few of Vanessa's friends there too. I made lots of bets, none of which won anything, very strange betting here as they have fractions instead of odds so I couldn't tell what I was doing, my little brain couldn't cope! He he. After that we headed out to some Irish Bars on Bondi and danced the night away!
Since then I have turned into a beach bum! Been to Bondi again and went over to Manly beach on the ferry which was really nice. Poor Liz has been working so been spending most of my time with Vanessa. Been out on Kings cross, which was a strange mix of backpackers, Gays, Oz posers and prostitutes, highly amusing.
That brings me to last night - New Years Eve. What a laugh. We went down at mid day to a place called Misses Macquarie's Chair, and had a picnic in the sun, and just chilled all afternoon. It was a perfect spot to watch the fireworks, could see the opera house and the bridge, they were spectacular!!!! My pics don't do them justice!
Well hope you enjoy the latest two albums of photos, and hope you all had a brill Christmas.
Happy New Year
