Jen's Travel Diary
Well we reached "Coffs Harbour" after a 9h journey on the Greyhound coach from Sydney. At 7am we were met by the representative from the YHA, with a free pick up to the hostel - BONUS!!
"Coffs Harbour" is a nice quiet town about 4h from "Byron Bay", a good place to stop off and have a chill out. There is not a great deal to do here, most people come and have some surf lessons before Byron Bay.
On Wednesday we slept until lunchtime and then went out and investigated the area. We went to "Park Beach" which is stunning with lovely near white sand, we all ate lunch on the rocks. We then went to the Harbour just as night was falling, it was very quiet with only a few boats moored. In the evening the YHA organised an evening out in town. We ended up in quite a local pub and had a few beers, there was also a karoake going on - some of the people singing took it so seriouslyand most were really bad!!
On Thursday we set off to discover "Coffs" town centre. Annie found a replacement for her gold belt!!!! - which was a great relief!!! It was quite a busy little centre with lots of bakers and clothes shops, and many discount stores. After that we went to the harbour, that was much busier than the day before with lots of boats moored. We then all took a walk to "Muttonbird Island" which had great views over the area, especially the harbour. Sadly the birds had migrated for the winter so we missed them.
We are getting the 4.45pm bus to Byron Bay today!!!
