Stop 2 - San Francisco
Well.....the journey to San Fran started a bit foggy (excuse the pun...youll see what I mean next) I was delayed in the airport for 2 hours because we couldnt fly because of the Fog and low ceilings in San Fran...I no sh*t you haha.
So I land at San Fran...and it was a shock to the system haha...after coming from 105 degree heat in vegas to 60......I know I have been spoilt aha! I made my way to the hostel (which by the way they say is a short walk from the train.... EE RRRRRR - done in my best family fortunes voice - as if....I was knackered dragging my case through the busy streets of san fran...hmmm underestimated that 1 didnt they haha.
So I will admit when I first arrived in San Fran to mid morning of my 2nd day here....I hated it and I wanted to leave so much :-( the people I had encountered so far (apart from the hostel staff) had seemed rude and so less friendly than in vegas and I felt really unsettled and ineasy.....but you know you gotta give these things a go!!
On my 2nd day...it was packed with adventure....and OMG it was bloody freezin...to the point I had to buy a hoody because I was frozen (I know it sounds like I am exaggerating but man it was coldddddd) I went on the tour bus and got to see Golden Gate Bridge and then off I went to Alcatraz and that was an eye opener......such an amazing experience and I got to meet a real life ex-inmate from alcatraz, I thought I was on "The Bill" (remembr Polly Page hah).........so the 2nd day ended better and I feel a lot happier and more settled now and excited to see what else San Fran has to offer.
I walked across Golden Gate Bridge (which isnt actually Golden I'll have you know...its orange but its called that because of the golden line the ships have to pass.....) You see thi blog is educating isnt it...and its FREE god Im too good ;-) .....Well when I say I walked, lets call it stomped, it was so windy and foggy Im surprised I never ended up in the water, needless to say I never looked my best by the time I finished the walk. Its weird you know I went to a little place called Sausalito (only about 5/6 miles from Golden Gate Bridge) and its was lovely and warm and sunny, felt like Id crossed a different country!! OH...wait for it....heres the best bit there was only a ruddy CHRISTMAS SHOP...yes you read right a christmas shop, I was in my element.....Christmas in July (see pics for proof) I reckon they knew I was an elf ;-)
San Fran has been great, albeit a little weird...Weird??? I hear you say (come on you know you said it) Yes weird.....its a complete mix, Ive encountered some very very rude people (and for those of you who know me well, yes I did tell them they were rude....I mean I feel its my duty as a british citizen) and without being too sexist the majority of the rude people Ive met have been Men....maybe they were intimidated by my massive muscles...haha I dont know....but then saying that I have met some lovely, helpful and wonderful people here so they out weigh the nasty (sayers) pastys!!!
Hostel Life....well this is my 1st experience of a hostel and to be honest its different from what I imagined....HOW? I hear you ask again (full of questions today arent we) I like hostel life, the room is big and clean and secure and the bathroom is great, aways thought Id struggle to sleep but when you have walked miles and miles all day long, let me tell you sleep is no problem (no gym needed here in San Fran.....walking about 10+ miles a day) anyways...Im going off on 1....but I also thought people who stayed in hostels would be a lot more "friendly" but its seems this is not really the case, you know me I talk to anyone.......shame really, but saying that the people I have met have all been great so NERRR NERRR to the ones who never met me...you loss losersssss!! (plus there are some bad whoppers here...and for those of you who know me well can just imagine my facial expression when said whoppers act up haha say no more)
So San Fran its been mixed emotions but I am so glad I shared it with you......L.A Im ready for ya ;-)
