Since my last entry i headed down through Lima to Huacachina- a small oasis in the midst of sanddunes. Totally different from the snowcapped mountains of Huaraz. Spent a couple of nights there - managed to go on a sand buggy trip, try my hand at sandboarding and chill out at the pool.
Arrived in Nazca yesterday - extremely dry and desolate place, but has the famous nazca lines. Huge, unexplained etchings and figures in the ground that can only be appreciated from the sky. Theories include out of space landings, constellations and calendars amongst others. Pretty impressive (despite the woman vomiting next to me!) One of the figures, a condor, has a wingspan of 140m!
Next stop is Arequipa - another overnight bus is awaiting me! So arrive there tomorrow and plan to do a 3 day trek into the colca canyon leaving on sunday. No rest and all that!
love to all
