THREE'S COMPANY
DAY 46: Hanoi
Another early awakening saw me head out for breakfast at about 7.30am to the bakery we went to yesterday. This time I bought three pastries - one for the way back and one each for me and Jen when I got back to the room. Well, it's only fair. Although I didn't do a very good job at hiding my greed as Jen busted me when I got back. Left the wrapper in the carrier.
We checked out of our room at 11am and trudged through the streets with our backpacks to the Grand View Hotel where we'd be staying with Kelly for the next two nights. We were able to check in early which was great so Jen made use of the bath whereas I'd settled for the sink-come-shower at the previous place.
After a 'milkshake', which left a metallic taste in our mouths, at Green Tangerine we opted for lunch over the road at Le Pub which looks like the kind of place that would have a good vibe in the evening, but the meal I had wasn't up to much.
We had a little walk around before heading back for a nap which turned into another two hour blackout. Just as well, because when we awoke it was time to wait for Kelly who had just landed.
Kelly arrived in one piece after a taxi ride with a wannabe F1 driver and it was nice to see a familiar face. We headed out to Lucky Restaurant for a few welcome cocktails and some food - again, ridiculously cheap. A couple of hours catching up and swapping stories passed before heading back for some more sleep.
