Hello everyone.
Well...what have we been up to?
We had a fab time in Melbourne. We did loads in the city but we also went on a couple of adventures away from the hustle and bustle. We travelled all along the Great Ocean Road to the Twelve (Seven really!) Apostles. The scenery was beautiful...sure beats Skegness! En route we were attacked by parrots and made friends with some Koalas. As the sun was setting on that day we got to see Little Penguins coming home at sunset, it was incredible to see them in the wild. Very sereal to see these little creatures emerging from the waves.
We also drove out to Phillip Island, home of the Little Penguins. We sat on the beach as the waddled straight past us up the beach, they were so funny...they kept changing their minds then would get knocked over by the waves....bless them! We also got to feed Kangaroos and wallabies that day, they were so cute :)
First thing tuesday morning we left for Sydney, via the Australian Alps and Canberra. On the first day we stopped off at Wilson's Promontory, the most southern point of Australia. We went for a little hike up through the National Park ending at Squeaky Beach, the views were breath-taking.
The second night we stayed at Jindabyne in accommodation that over looked the lake and mountains. To get to Jindabyne we had to take this crazy road which cut through the mountains. It was a very windy dirt track, with cliffs to one side and a steep drop on the other. We were so high up we could look down on waves of mist...absolutely incredible views. From Jindabyne we went up in to the mountains and WE SKIIED. FANTASTIC soooooooo much fun!! Jen was a right pro and went off like a rocket all around the mountains. I, on the other hand, was a rookie and had some fun on the baby slopes! But after a few hours of teaching I went off with Jen for a bit...we were right Ski-Bunnies! The Apres-Ski was just as good, spent the night drinking Ozzie beer in the bar, attempting to play pool.....we definitely got better as the night went on!!
Last day on our journey to Sydney was pretty chilled. Our only stop was at Canberra checking out the Parliament Buildings etc.
And here we are in Sydney. SWEET!
