ok this is the third time i've typed this cos the web site seems to not like saving stuff at the moment. this will therefore be a brief update incase it packs up again.
so in Saigon we managed to get a cheapish room with free internet and breakfast included the only catch was that it was on the 6th floor and didnt have a lift, just to add to the fun you walked up about 3 floors before it said you had reached the 2nd floor. it really didn't do to forget anything when you set out for the day. We did a quick mornings trip to the Cuchi tunnels which are where the vietkong lived during the vietnamese war against america. the tunnels were tiny, not much more than a metre high and i didn't really fit into the tunnels we were allowed to visit. it was a good mornnings trip though and we followed it up with a trip to the war remnants museum which was pretty good, professionally done but quite horrific. We agreed that having seen the war museums in Thailand it was tragic that no lessons seem to have been learnt from all those deaths as wars just go on and on. anyway there were some really moving exhibits , articles by war photographers most of whom had died during the conflict.
i think the next day we decided to have a lie in after a few days of travelling and tours and without an alarm we slept till midday. so we did a small walking tour of the town and saw a few buildings of interest and jennifer had a fun time at the fed ex office but she will tell you about that herself when she is back from the supermarket....
the next day we embarked on a three day tour of the mekong delta that was to end up in cambodia.
