Ok...Why do bad things happen to good people?! We woke up this morning to the ground covered in a layer of snow and it´s been coming thick and fast all day....although it´s very beautiful it means no riding as the gauchos won´t even leave the kitchen when it´s miserable out...! Apparently it NEVER snows here- in fact it is the first time most of the horses have seen it and also Louisa the owner too!

Yesterday on my ride out with Luis the head cowboy the sleet was coming at us sideways and although he was wrapped up in 6 shirts, a jacket and a huge thick carpet poncho I´d be hard pushed to remember a time that I saw someone looking that miserable..apparently they just hate bad weather and would rather leave the horses out and run the risk of them being attacked by the puma then actually go outside and face the rain..

So here we are tucked up indoors by the fire with our books and getting fatter and fatter by the hour with the amazing meals, puddings, cakes for tea, hot chocolate and cooked breakfasts... it is a shame though as we did come to ride and see the way of life here which is now quite restricted...noone can even get to the ranch as the roads are closed. We´ve been to see the foals in the rain and pat the stallion but that´s about as far as we´ve ventured- Let´s hope it clears up tomorrow!
