So the end of the last blog wasn't qute correct.
We moved from Jodhpur to Udaipur.
What a difference. From the madness of the streets of Jodhpur, with it's amazing fort, stunning Lasse's, and horrific pollution we've moved on to Udaipur (Jaipur isn't for a while yet!). Not before sampling the grand architecture, mad Rickshaw driving and best of all the bollywood disco. No one thought an Indian disco would be that interesting, but after a bottle of Indian wine (not really recomended!!), the Bangrha and Bollywood hits made the dancefloor heave (Mainly with our groups shape pulling!). We also discovered song of the holiday so far; 'Om Shanti Om' and it's so catchy it should be illegal! With throats sore from diesel pollution and drunk singing we left Jodhpur with sad hearts, the fort really is the most stunning building (possibly in the world), Kipling described it as having been "built by angels and giants" a more perfect description would be hard to come by. However our bodies couldn't handle much more of the overwhelming smell, closeness, and pollution !
A 6 hour coach journey, with near miss crashes involving heavy trucks, troops of black faced monkeys chasing the coach, and the best roadside Chai, and we arrived in the Lake city.
Udaipur is beautiful, a huge lake surrounded by mountains, rooftop cafes and restaurants completely different to the rest of India that we have experienced. We walked up to the Monsoon palace yesterday to watch the sunset (it's a building made famous by Octop**** which was shot partly here and we are watching tonight over dinner - Bond huh, can never get away from him!). Today we had a cookery class and learnt how to make Chai, Pakora, Masalas, Chapattis, and Saffron tea, so expect to be poisened by us on our return!!
Next up is Pushkar - then Bharutpur - then Jaipur!!!
More when there's more.
