Around the World Forever
Punta del Diablo ... or The Devil's Point... is a tiny fishing village in eastern Uruguay that might have about 50 year-round residents. But the place is famous among South Americans as a low-key beach resort. During the month of January, ten thousand vacationers from Argentina, Brazil, and Uruguay, will be wandering around town and pacing the beach in flip-flops 'til their hearts content. What will they do here exactly? Probably exactly what I did... not too much. Which I guess is why it's so popular.
I rented a cabana with another American and a guy from New Zealand. And like Punta del Este, the two or three days I had planned to stay here turned into 5 days. I don't know why I've been planning things recently...I should know by now that no plan I make will ever happen. Let's hope I can actually get myself home someday. But for now, I will continue to wander around planlessly, if that is in fact a word (spell checker says no), and seek out a good destination for Christmas and New Year. There is one plan I have to stick to, however. I must be in Ushuaia by January 22nd to meet the second person that will visit me while on this trip. More on that later...
