Around the World Forever
I finally left the beach bum life behind in Taganga only to go to yet another beach. I came back to Cartagena to take better photos than the ones I made four years ago and also go to Playa Blanca; said to be Colombia's most beautiful beach. The difficulty taking photos of a an old colonial city is that modern life seems to get in the way and spoil the image of the historic photo I had in mind. Cars, motorbikes, delivery trucks, and people walking with briefcases and backpacks just don't bring out the colonial past. However, walking down streets that have changed very little over the last three centuries is still a pleasant way to spend an afternoon and that's about all I accomplished. Playa Blanca was no doubt a better beach than Taganga in terms of sand and water quality but the locals are in a league of their own when it comes to annoying the hell out you. After a day of this place, I jumped on a boat back to Cartegena and took the night bus to Medellin. My time in Colombia this time around is almost finished and I have to fly back to Peru. I actually have visitors coming down from the States so the next month should be cool playing tour guide for my friends. See you south of the equator again....
