Only having a couple of nights in Seattle, we had to make the most of our time. Last night we walked to Volunteer Park, where we had a lovely view across the city to the Space Needle. We'd stopped in at a restaurant on the way to book a table for later. 'Hello, can we reserve a table for later tonight, please?' I asked the waitress. She looked at me for a minute, and it was clear she hadn't understood a word I'd said! 'I'll get the manager', she said, what she meant was 'maybe she'll understand whatever language you appear to be speaking'!
We'd booked to go on a 'coffee tour' of Seattle today, which was great, we tasted loads of nice coffee, in cool cafe's, and learned loads of interesting coffee facts! There was a guy called Vinny, from New York (or N'Yawk, as he called it) on the tour, my cousin Paul would've been impressed with him, although they probably wouldn't have understood each other's accents!
He would've also liked the Seattle Sounders FC fans we got talking to when we were by the football stadium too, they kindly gave us some Sounders souvenirs! Everyone seems really friendly here, and when they can understand what we're saying, they 'really love' our accent! We've really enjoyed Seattle, and could've stayed longer, but tomorrow, it's San Francisco, maan!
