We arrived in Vegas on the Friday of a Holiday weekend, and it was mad busy. We had trouble finding the hotel, and eventually had to pull over and call them on the mobile. 'We're a sixteen-story building, with the hotel name on the top, you can't really miss us', the receptionist said, helpfully! We found it, checked in, and went out to see 'the strip'. It was so tacky and seedy, and incredibly busy. We're glad we're staying in a chilled-out, 'off-strip' non-casino hotel, 'cos the ones on the strip, with casinos, are really smokey and noisy. We were walking through one hotel, and a bunch of people went passed us with what looked like gun-cases over their shoulders. Sal was not impressed, as the attitude here to firearms is one of her bug-bears. 'Please tell me those people haven't got guns' she moaned. Seconds later, we passed the auditorium where a snooker tournament was taking place. D'oh!
We spent a lovely morning by the pool, listening to the DJ spin latin and reggae tunes, while following the Champions League Final on Twitter, and then celebrating Barça's victory with a burger and a cocktail, mmm, Messi!
Out on the strip again, and it's like Matthew Street on Saturday night! We dodge into one of the hotel/casinos to escape the madness on the streets, but once they've got you in, it's really hard to get out again, because they disguise the exits! You've got to pass through the gaming rooms to go anywhere in the casinos, and they're unremittingly grim places. Dark, noisy, smokey, and full of grim-faced people feeding money into the slot machines. No-one actually looks like they're enjoying themselves, in fact, everyone looked bored and miserable. A bit like how Liverpool looked under Roy Hodgson!
In fact, the best bit was watching the musical fountains outside the Bellagio, and the music was Katherine Jenkins! Even Katherine Jenkins was preferable to the gaming rooms, wow!

sharon I hate the idea of all those guns, I carried one for nearly six months and it did my head in! To go out and be able to buy one is just stupid! But thats americans for you. Look after yourselves.xxxxx
