We meet a lovey american / Indain guy who is now letting us stay for free in his posh Auckland Appartement . Hello, We finally were able to do the Tonariro crossing near Taupo. We had wanted to do it about 6 weeks ago but weather was bad. We got up at 5 to catch the shuttle bus to the Tongariro National Park, but it broke down so we didnt set off on the hike untill 8.30! Hello from Tekapo-that rhymes by the way if you say it right! It is very pretty here, this lake is almost turquoise because of rock flour left behind by old galciers or sumink!It is very striking. Sometimes you can see Mt Cook (highest in nz) from here but you cant now cos it is cloudy-typical.
