Jeanne & Michael in Spain
JEANNE
Last night we went to the 'Arabian' baths here in Seville. You go into this lovely little place, down the stairs to the pools> hot, cold, warm, jetted, and salt water / it's all underground, and lit by candles. We both had a short massage, then back into the water. I did spend some time thinking about mildew, water purification and utensil sanitization, {which I owe to Tanya, Kara and Robin...thanks you guys}, but it was very relaxing and a lot of fun. We spend hours every day walking. Today we discovered the Museo del Palacio del Condess de Lubjira [or something close to that}. She was an archaeologist from the early part of the 1900s who was concerned about the local artifacts being lost to study, so she brought them all home and incorporated them into her house. Roman mosaic floors, Moorish stonework, Visigothic columns, Greek pottery EVERYWHERE. It was jaw dropping and not even in our guide book. We went to the Museo de Belles Artes where there are a lot of religious paintings {complete with people flagellating and abusing themselves in the pursuit of holiness ^ I think they were seriously disturbed people who would be heavily medicated today} Michael has just come back from his final walkabout of the day, with goodies, so I'm off to partake.- comments
