Well I am now in an airport in Auckland, New Zealand. I have left Nilam and the twins 23 hours ago, and I am still waiting for my flight to Melbourne (in 3 hours!!) God this has been such a LONG journey so far, but thanks to Chelsea, the sleeping tablets have kept me sane!!! Thanks gorgeous!!
Ok so New York, concrete jungle where dreams are made of!!
The first evening when we were reunited in the hotel room was surreal! Seeing people I knew after a month of strangers was such a lovely feeling!!
First stop, time square!! What a place!! It puts you on an instant high!! The lights, the buildings, the atmosphere is undescribable!!! We went to a bar called the View!! And what a view. It has a revolving floor, so it shows you the whole city from a great height!! Here we had Champagne-Tini's!! What a way to start the twins birthday celebrations!! The evening was warm and so we bought sight seeing bus tour tickets for the next two days, not knowing the weather forcast!!
Well it was awful weather!! There was heavy rain all day, however this did not stop us seeing the city on a open top bus!! Yeh we got soaked but we made the best of it, by getting off every couple of stops to shop!! Hehe!! That night after dinner went to a Jazz bar, which was excellent and what New Yorkers do, right??!!
The next day it was still raining but not as bad as the day before. We managed to do the ferry tour to the Statue of Liberty, which was breathtaking!! Then we went to Ground Zone. There was a wierd sort of stillness there, the sadness still remains after ten years. However the Freedom tower that is being built there as the new World Trade Centre, is almost complete and it just shows how a city can proudly pick itself up after such a tragic event. It was an honour to be there.
We then went to china town, in the rain and searched for hours for a good restaurant to eat at, (tip, do not go to china town, its a dive!!) Fed up, we got in a cap and went to little India and stubbled across one of the best indian restaurants. Cold, wet and tired we had an early night (by that I mean by 8.30pm we were in bed!!)
The next day was much better weather, actually the rest of our days there were brilliantly warm!! Clear blue skies all round. We went to Grand Central Station, and that is one impressive station!! Then went went to Tiffany's, and I just had to buy myself a braclet!!! It's so beautiful!! (I sent it home with Nilam, as not to loose it on my travels! ) That evening we were properly celebrating the twins birthday ( although every restaurant we went to we got them to sing happy birthday to them, it was so much fun!!) So we went to a french restaurant that Nilam recommended (PR girl!!) Balthazar, and even though we were an hour late for our table, they still kept it for us!! (It was the first day of fashion week, so you can imagine how packed the streets were!!) And the food was definitely worth the wait, good choice Nilam!!
The next day we met Ash and Aivs (original Indian sister) friend for lunch. She had emigrated five years ago from London and she made it sound so appealing!! She definitely sold living in New York to us! Then we visited the Empire State Building and what a building!!! The sky was clear blue for miles and it felt like you could see the world!! Such an amazing place!!
In the evening we managed to get discount tickets for a broadway show called the Jersey Boys, which told the story of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons - again brilliant!!!
The next day was our last, and how fast had it gone!!! After getting our nails done we went to Central Park, and I wish we could've spent more time there, however you could probably spend years there, its so massive!!! I will definitely be back visiting there, in fact there is so mcuh to see in New York, you need more than five days. And you also need to be VERY rich!! Everything is so big and expensive there. The portion size in meals in enought to feed three people, but all the food we ate was so tasty!!
I recommend New York to everybody!! It has so much character and life. The buzz of being there is phenomenal!!!!
So now I am just waiting for my flight to Australia, the twins have told me so much about it and where to go that I am really looking forward to it. It was really sad to see the girls go at the airport and I miss them so much already!!! I miss you all and wish I could share these amazing moments with you all!!
Anyways enough of the soppy stuff!! I be in touch soon!! Love you all!! x x x
ps sorry there havent ben many photos on here, its been hard as most computers I'm at won't let me upload them, but I will keep trying!!!
