Hello there. Well we have now left Australia and are spending a couple of days in the madness that is Singapore. The island is not huge but still manages to house miles and miles of buildings. The temperature here is so humid and hardly drops at night time, thank the lord for aircon! We arrived at the Airport in the early evening heat after a great flight with jetstar and headed to our hostel the hangout. We are staying at a lovely hostel at Mount Emily Park and a short walk from Little India (it really is like a little Mumbai) and not far from the MRT (mass rapid transport) station that links us with the rest of the city/island. There are lots of fantastic colonial buildings here, probably the most famous is the Raffles Hotel, we havent been able to go there to have a Singapore Sling (I know touristy) as our rucksack outfits dont quite stretch to their dress code!! China town is great, Clarke Quay bustling with great bars and restaurants and of course bum boat rides along the river by lantern light. The thing to do here is shop, shop and shop. The main shopping place is Orchard Road, sounds serene but trust me...it is a street with about 50 Bluewaters on it!!!! Can you imagine what it is like for a self confessed shopaholic to spend 3 days here as a backpacker!!! Jay has me on a very tight leash! Tomorrow we head by bus to Malaysia, were not sure if we are going to go east coast or west coast so will decide when we get there. We promise to upload some photos soon (we treated oursleves to a very nifty new camera (leash not that tight!!!)) Anyway, take care will catch up soon x x x x P.S. The attached picture is actally of Japan, looks a bit like singapore at night (they have lights!) sorry but having problems uploading pictures to the website at the moment!!! arggghhh!
