65 miles is a long way for the first sail of the season with new propeller and major serviced engine. We were close hauled to Cabo de Gata and then the wind got up to 20 knots on the nose so tacked for several hours before finally motor sailing the last couple of hours. After the previous day's rain, the sun came out and we had a southerly wind pushing us the 35 miles to Garrucha. The sea settled further giving a smooth and fast ride. Garrucha was disappointing, the marina was government owned and had fired all the marineros on 1st April so only the office staff were around. The marina suffered from swell and we bounced around until we moved damaging the gelcoat in the process!
