Today we did the guided tour of Dachua Concentration Camp. We caught a taxi to the train station where we met our guide Craig.
When first arriving at the Camp you are confronted by two massive iron gates. Once inside you see a massive stoned area to which we found out is where the prisioners would stand twice a day to be counted and if the guards miss counted they would start again leaving the prisoners standing out there for up to 16 hours.
We then went on to see their living quarters if that is what you can call it, disgusting is the only word.
The Camp was built to only house 200 people by 1945 it was housing around 2118
The punishment these poor men went through is heart breaking.
We visited the gas chambers and crematoriums which were only built to hide from the coroner what the Soldier were doing to the prisioners.
Although a very moving experience I am so glad I have visited the Camp, it has giving me a much clear picture of this terrible part of history
