Arrived in Denham and setup with nice views of the ocean. School work to do then a nice relax.

We awoke to still more flies but got on and did some school work. In the afternoon we had a look at Hamelin Pool and the world heritage stromatolites (they look a bit like black cauliflower). We also had a look at the quarry where they have mined shell which they make into building blocks for many historic buildings including a house on the Homestead stay.

Hamelin we are headed today a reasonable drive north to a Homestead, The place we are staying at was originally a sheep farm and has shearing quarters. A great place to stay it’s much nicer than most caravan parks with nice toilets and showers and a communal camp kitchen. The best thing was that we got to light our first fire and toast marshmallows. The worst thing is the fly population has grown about 20 times what it was in Kalbarri.

Kalbarri National Park today and we went on the 8km walk over the Gorge and around the river across some sand beds and back to the rock formation Natures Window. The walk takes about 3 hrs or more with a really tricky climb on a rock edge overhanging the river, We had to hold some other peoples back packs and help them through.

Hutt River Provence – have you heard of this place? Well it’s not part of Australia and we met the governing Prince today. It was formed in 1971 when Prince Leonard took on the Australian Government over wheat taxes and the farming of his land. It was interesting to find out that they have a coat or arms, a national anthem written by Jon English, their own currency and stamps along with HRP number plates.
