Washington has been absolutely amazing. The best city either of us have ever been to. Packed so much into our four days. Started with a walk to the White House and the Washington Memorial on Tuesday after good journey by Amtrack. Hotel fabulous, updated to executive package with breakfast, soft drinks and snacks at tea time. a real bonus. Lovely room, two blocks from White House. Another beautiul day and we've already walked miles including a visit to Liberty Bell, Independence Hall, Love Park and walked across town from one river to the other. Labour Day means it's a real holiday atmosphere but much more relaxed than NYC. Just eaten the hottest turkey sandwich, chilli sauce is their pickle of choice and washed it down with root beer! Hi AllNow in Philadelphia and its so much less frantic than NY. We left Ny by train today at 1pm having walked to Penn Station form the hotel wheeling an enormous amount of luggage.The streets around Broadway were packed as its Labour Day tomorrow so its a long weekend. Getting on the train was quite scarey but people are really helpful if you ask and eventually a GI helped us on to the train with our luggage. Here we are in New York after a fantastic week on QM2. All they say about luxury is true - the stateroom, the public areas, the dining room and the food. Have never eaten so much fish, brilliant. Entertainment was really good too. Sea calm most of the time but even when it was rough we were fine.
