After our Weet-Bix, we were back on the road. Our aim was to make it to Mount Gambier, the Limestone Coasts' major town, by lunch. We did this without a problem, driving through two small towns, Beachport and Millicent, along the way.
When we arrived in Mt. Gambier we had some lunch and went to see its main attraction, The Blue Lake. Sat on a volcano, the deep blue lake turns a really strong, bright blue in the summer months. Unfortunately when we saw it, it was the middle of the of the winter and the lake looked pretty much the same colour as any other lake would.
We continued driving through the rainbow weather and crossed the border into Victoria. We were driving through big green forest like trees for the rest of the day, which was really nice, as we'd spent so long seeing dry and dead looking landscapes.
We eventually arrived in Warrnambool, a cool little surf city, known mainly for whale sightings as the Southern Right whales migrate west in the winter months. Warrnambool is also the official beginning (or end) of the Great Ocean Road. In our case, the beginning.
We stayed at another caravan park that night and took advantage of its tv lounge room to watch the last-ever episode of Frost. Not a particularly touristy thing to do, but sometimes you just need nights like that.
