Hello again Blog Readers,
On Wednesday 2nd April we made our "pieces" then went to Wet 'n' Wild for the day. Jamie, Eddie, Mhairi, and myself left Carolines who stays probably again 10 Min's at the most away from the park and guess how long it took us..... Correct 1 hour. Eddie is now OFFICIALLY not the worst navigator in the world its Mhairi, ha ha! We found our favourite place in the sunshine coast whilst driving around, its called "Labrador", ha ha Mhairi had us there probably 20 times in 1 hour! Once we were there though it was an amazing day, the sun was shining and the flumes were quality. Favourite flume was the Irn-Beagle, that was our name for it anyway! After a day at the water park we went to Surfers Paradise, we checked into our hostel which was run like an army camp, the guy gave us loads of s*** for bringing in drink, we didn't like the attitudes of any of the staff in the hostel, so we took our drink and our money to a little B.Y.O (Bring Your Own...Alcohol) Brazilian Cafe which was excellent. We sat there and played Uno for hours and had some great cheap food. We had a walk along the Esplanade where Jamie and Mhairi indulged in a bit of massage, alright for some.
Jamie and myself were home a little earlier than Ed and Mhairi who ended up in the only place that would let them in with thongs on, the strip club....when the guys came back to the hostel later, there was a staff member sitting at the door being all smart and horrible because Mhairi was speaking to the cat. She was in fact ordered to go to her bed and be quiet??? How old are we?? We decided not to stay there another night, this terrible hostel was called "Backpackers Inn", not a nice place!
On Thursday the 3rd of April the 4 of us decided to go to Sea World for the day. Mhairi was feeling slightly hung over so things were done at a slightly slower pace! It turned out to be another fun packed day, we touched star fish, went to the seal detective show, got lost a few times, watched Sesame Street characters prance around the new theme park, ate heaps of ice-cream, went on Kiddie rides, watched 3D films, oh and ah'd at the littlest penguins in the world, enjoyed a Dolphin show which was spectacular and then finally went on a flume ride which smelt of pee!! The only bad thing about Sea World was that they had a Polar Bear there.....Its probably the saddest looking Polar Bear in the Southern Hemisphere. I had to walk away whilst wiping the tears from my eyes, there is just no need to have a Polar Bear in Australia, really wanted to release the poor guy....boo hoo. Anyway once we left Sea World we went to the Versace hotel to try and mix with the famous people (this is the hotel that everyone goes to after I'm a celebrity get me out of here!!) unfortunately neither Dec nor Ant were there and the drinks were $30 so we walked in and then walked out again. Leanne joined us that evening and we checked into another hostel in Surfers called "Surf 'n' Sun Beachside Backpackers" fantastic backpackers 10/10 deffo.
That evening we played some serious Uno over a few drinks, got a bit rowdy and were told to quieten down..oopps.
Friday 4th April - "Five become Six"
We said farewell to Surfers and went back to Caroline and Kel's for the afternoon. The hire car was due to be back that day so we decided to extend her by one day, didn't want to be rushing around...God Forbid! Since we had the car it meant that ALL of us could go and greet Ms Jillian Downie at Brisbane Airport. Thankfully Downie was on time and it was a brilliant reunion. We had a quick catch up before saying good-bye. The girls all went back to Caroline and Kel's whilst Marc Deano and I stayed in Brisbane. Carloine (Irish Caz) invited Marc and I to stay with her and Des for a few days and Deano had a bed at Karen and Rick's, so we were all sorted.
Saturday 5th April
After a lovely long lie Marc and Des decided to go golfing while I waited on Caz finishing work. We went to the cheapest steak house in town, Pick and Cook your own steak on the BBQ, it comes with salad and pasta etc, and only 10 Bucks. The red wine went down well with the medium rare and we had a brilliant laugh. When we got back to Caz's the guitar came out, Marc and Des spent most of the night mixing music whilst Caz and I had a great catch up.
Sunday 6th April
We headed back down to sunny Helensvale to say a big THANK YOU to both Caroline and Kel for putting us all up. After having a very competitive game of UNO (Kel likes to win) we all went to their local for something to eat. It was sad saying good-bye to Caroline, but it was brilliant to see her and their home in Helensvale. We both had a brilliant time and want to say THANK YOU again, we promise to give Ailsa and Aaron lots of cuddles from you. xx Marc, Deano and I left Helensvale that night and went back to stay with Caz and Des.
Monday 7th April
Marc, Deano and Myself caught the train out of town to go and visit Donna and Neil. (Info - Donna is Gooses mum, and for those of you who don't know Goose is a friend of ours from home. Neil and Donna have both worked at Sunny Side and I know Neil through ward 25 when I did some extra shifts there) Phew! They invited us to their very impressive pad for a BBQ and a Hot Tub. It was as Marc would say "A Dream", the food was excellent, Hot Tub relaxing and company brilliant. Am sure we will definitely be back for a visit. Thanks again for having us. We caught the train back to Brisbane city centre and caught up with the gang in "Down Under". They were giving away free booze, woo hoo. We all got "Blind" and had a great laugh, Marc then won $100 for getting as many people on to the dance floor as he could, it was hilarious watching him as he bribed half of the pub by telling them they would get a drink, ha ha so instead of pocketing 100 bucks he got about 50 by the time he got the drinks in. The night was going really well, we all had a boogie and as usual Mhairi was showing off with her front flips and crazy moves, until....CRACK. Mhairi fell to the ground with a thud. Instantly she knew something wasn't right but the alcohol seemed to be working as a great pain relief. Mazza hit the hay early and the rest of us danced until the wee hours of the morning.
Tuesday 8th April
I awoke to my phone buzzing, it was Mhairi. She was calling to say that she had hardly slept and was in agony. Unsure what to do she decided to try and get to A&E, as we were all due to go to Steve Irwins Zoo and it was Deano's last day things were not looking good. Downie called me an hour later to say that as well as Mhairi being unwell Leanne appeared to have some sort of bug and had been vomiting all night, without going into too much detail, it was projectile and was coming out both ends...at the same time! So we had two invalids, and poor Jillian was on her hols. As is was Deano's last day we still went to Australia Zoo and left Jillian to do what she is best at and play the Nurse Nancy role. Caz made up an awasome picnic and drove the 3 of us up to the Zoo. As a rule I don't normally go to "Zoo's" as hate seeing animals in cages etc, but as this was Steve Irwin's Zoo my arm was twisted by Marc. The Zoo was massive, the animals were well looked after and had lots of room to roam around. You get up close and personal with heaps of "Kanga's", Koala bears and hundred's of birds. The "Crocoseum" was also a highlight, although they made a bit of a fool out of Jamie who volunteered to have some birds fly onto her arms, she had to cooooo cooooo cooooo like a bird whilst flapping her arms like wings, ha ha turned out it was just a wind up so Jamie was left with a very red face.....BEAMER! It was sad walking about the Zoo realising that the man himself Mr Irwin is no longer with us, his presence is still very much there with lots of memorabilia around and Steve jumping out as a cardboard cut out shouting....Crikey, She's a beauty, Blimey!!
It was time to say bye bye to our Buddy "Eddie Barry Deano John Dean" we all had the most AMAZING time and it was another tear jerker when we waved cheerio as we boarded the bus to Noosa.
We arrived in Noosa on Tuesday the 8th of April,we were welcomed with the biggest downpour ever! Not the best thing when you're in your shorts and tee-shirt!As we didn't have a place to stay the night we were counting on walking to the nearest backpackers, however due to the torrential rain we decided to sit in the bus shelter for a while and wait on the rain stopping…1 ½ hours later and it was still POURING!
We had phoned Koalas which was the nearest backpackers only to be told that they were full for the next two nights, as was the YHA hostel. It looked like we were going to have to slum it and stay in a B&B or Motel. We only planned to stay in Noosa for one night but since the incident with Mhairi, Jillian was a day behind us so we arranged to stay in Noosa for two night.Thankfully we sourced a Motel called "The Anchor".The couple who owned it were lovely and even came to pick us up in the rain to take us to their Motel. As you can imagine we were both very very excited to have a double bed and own room with TV and coffee facilities….woo hoo!The extra bonus was that the room also had a single bed in it which was perfect for Jillian arriving.
Jillian arrived on the 9th of April, we spent the next two days and nights in Noosa. It was chill time again as we strolled down the beach during the day and caught the sunset at night on a nice boat down Noosa and Alexandria Bay.Noosa is definitely for the type of people who want to do very little, great place for a holiday
Thats all folks,
Jamie and Marc xxx
