Nicola and James went off on a hike
They walked a lot and rode on a bike
After five weeks away
We joined them for a brief stay

We met up with them in Singapore
Brought ointment for their feet which were sore
Put them in a Sling at Raffles
And asked them about their travels

They had clearly lost weight
So it was obviously our fate
To take them to wine and to dinner
At the end of the week, they no longer looked thinner

Also it was obvious that James had been lazy
His facial growth drove Anne crazy
Lots of hair, lots of fuzz
We all said: "Off to the barber for a buzz"

We made them feel better with champers on the Flyer
When Anne asked: "Must we go any higher?"
Back to earth with a Guinness
And then a brandy and port to finish

We had to find somewhere to suit us
The only one was Singapore Hooters
For a restaurant, it was the pits
But well compensated by... other bits

With everyone still feeling merry
We had to get to the ferry
To travel the South China Sea
To Bintan Island, Nicola, James, Anne and me

For the boys, golfing was the aim
Didn't play well; borrowed clubs to blame
That said, you have to hand it
To James - oh what a bandit

We hoped for sun but got plenty of rain
We had to adjourn to the bar; what a pain
A trip beckoned to the golf bar
The girls thought this a step too far

We truly hope we helped them mid-trek
Hey, but what the heck
I have enjoyed writing this rhyme
Got to go - it's Bintang time!
