We took a day trip to Bako national park. We were both still a bit weary from the Kinabulu trek, so decided on the easier, although not that short, trek through the forest and to a beach.
The walk was through the trees and bush and we reached the open path of a small beach. We had the beach to ourselves for a few hours and then headed back towards the national park office. We got chatting to a dutch pair of ladies, one who spoke fluent Malay as she lived on the mainland for 15 years. On our way back we heard some rustling in the trees above us..probiscous monkeys on the move. It was hard to get a good picture of them as they move so quickly and only settle for a few moments, devouring the fruits on the tops of the trees. We managed to track them for a good 10 minutes and had a laugh at the sheer ugliness of the males. They weren't the only wildlife we spotted. We saw a lot of different snakes, that we were always wary of and a group of wild pigs.
It was great to return to this beautiful park and even more amazing to see the monkeys in their natural habitat.
