Ello Sheila (Josh' Input) There will now be an influx of blogs as we finally have Internet :) Day 2 of Aus- So from Ellis beach we travelled an hour up to Port Douglas, a sweet town where we had lunch on the marina. We had been charged for someone else's lunch but hadn't noticed until 10 minutes after paying - so josh and I spent ages deliberating who would try and get our money and it was josh :) 2 omelettes and a pancake later we walked up the main high street and were shocked at how quiet and clean it was. Then we made a very important journey to find a pub that would show the formula 1 qualifying,we found a pub on top of Mount Molloy. We played numerous card games as we waited for the race to start and chatted to the locals. Chris was then told by the landlord that he couldn't get the channel as the remote was broken, this sadness spurred Chris on to fix the remote so as the landlord left the room Chris smacked the remote against the bar and abracadabra it worked!!! The landlord was grateful but maybe not as much had he seen how Chris fixed it ha ha josh and I played pool and rocked out to some Dire Straits and Eagles. We stayed at a free rest stop which had basic facilities but all we needed. We're trying to only go to a paid site every 3rd night otherwise its very expensive, approximately £30 per night. Chris had to come in the ladies toilet because I was scared as it was dark and there were so many bugs! We then got a bit merry and played cards. Day 3 - woke up early with the sun as we are every morning :) from doing prior research we found out the nearest water park was only a mere 913 km away, according to the satnav. But we went to an information centre and the nearest was just south of Cairns, travelled and hour and a half to Edmonton to a water park called Sugar World. We had a fantastic day, three great slides one of which was a mat race I.e. laying on a mat and sliding down to see who won. There was serious cheating from Chris and josh but I was the main culprit because if I didn't cheat I would never win :) Then again we had the mission to find a pub that showed the formula 1, we had found a bar on the way which was a British pub showing sport so we dropped Chris off and josh and I went to go and hire an awning from our campervan company as its too hot to just sit inside the campervan and too wet to sit outside without shelter. By the time we arrived they were shut so we went back to the pub and Chris was no where to be seen. We searched the whole pub and simply gave up, played pool and had a pint. I'd asked the bar staff whether a tall red headed man enquired about the F1 and she said no so I started to panic and thought someone had stolen him. Once the race was over we started to walk round the block in search of the missing Christopher, and there he was all chipper! I ran up and hugged him then gave him a firm tap on the arm, apparently he went to another pub because it wasn't showing at the British one. Long story, in short he was lost then found -everyone was happy :) We stayed at another free site called The Boulders, in the middle of nowhere with a gazzillion bugs!!!! Had an early night, with the boot open again! Day 4 - we travelled 4 hours to Townsville as we have a lot of land to cover to get to Sydney. We played 20 questions and sang to Whitney Houston. We're now at a paid campsite so we can charge the car and get water, we then had a BBQ and played cards for hours :) Day 5 - it's 6.30am and we've all just woke up,but there's no rush this morning as we don't have to leave the site until 12. We're heading down to a place called the The Strand which is basically the seafront where there's rock pools,mini water park, bars etc. Then heading to a free site again tonight which I'm about to do the research for. It has rained constantly since we arrived except for a brief couple of hours in Ellis Beach - smitten :) everyday there is the occasional sound of slapping with josh smacking bugs against himself or the ferocious sound of scratching as we have all been bitten like mad! Everything's very expensive over here, so trying to cook all our own meals in the campervan. There has only been a couple of disputes about people's driving but on the whole were all doing great, sticking to the itinerary :) Oh and im sorry it's late but Happy Mothers Day mums :) hope you had a great day with sun, no rain and no bugs!
