So, our bags are packed and we're ready to go - which probably explains why I can't get the song 'Leaving on a jet plane' out of my mind! We have our U.S. Visas, Australian Working visas, we've confirmed our flights, had all of our jabs (my arm still feels dead from half of them!), handed in our resignations, had the leaving parties, all of the very very sad goodbyes, set our itinerary, saved our money, packed, repacked and packed again, fully charged our cameras, have our passports and tickets safe and sound, and the volcanic ash cloud has disappeared enough to allow take off, OMG I think we might actually be ready to rock 'n' roll!!! :)
So we're starting off in America for 2 and half months! We've got the 'normal' tourist list of places to see like the Statue of Liberty, Niagara Falls, the White House, a tour round Nasa, visiting cities such as Miami, New Orleans and San Francisco, seeing the Golden Gate Bridge, a tour of Alcatraz, going to Vegas and the Grand Canyon, seeing the stars on the 'sidewalks' in LA and going to Hollywood baby!! :) But there's also a big list of experiences we're looking forward to such as driving through the desert Thelma and Louise stylee, stopping off at road side motels for the night (just got to avoid the residential serial killers like in the movies!), riding on a tram in San Francisco, playing the black jack tables in Vegas, eating pie in a roadside subway cart diner (apparently cherry is best - we'll see ;)), going on a helicopter tour of the Grand Canyon, watching a film in a drive in diner (if the waitresses are on roller skates like in Greece then even better!) and loads, loads more.
And now it's here - I just can't believe it. We leave tomorrow and I've hardly slept in a week. It's a strange, crazy and highly charged mix of excitement, wonder, slight anxiety and sheer disbelief. I've been looking forward to this my whole life, and it's now the eve before I start fulfilling one of my biggest ever dreams. It feels like Christmas Eve when you're a kid but instead of Santa and Reindeers they've been swapped for Sightseeing & different kind of air travel ;). The only downside to this trip is that it involves leaving everyone behind whilst I am away. I will miss you all, but to help remember me I've just uploaded a leaving party photo album so take a peek when you can.
My next update will be in New York! I'm so excited!! :)
Xx.
