Hoi An Day 2 (30.06.2012): Wow I can't believe it is the end of June. We have been travelling just over one month. Actually it does seem like we have been away ages. We have done so much.
Today we awoke refreshed and headed out to properly explore Hoi An. We both really like it here. The Ancient Town of Hoi An is a World Heritage site - it's easy to see why. This morning we bought a pass to go to see some of the town's sites including the Japanese Bridge, the Museum of Folklore and Phuc Kien Assembly Hall. After a stroll along the river and a quick look around the shops we stopped for lunch. I had a veggie hot pot which was delicious.
We then hired bikes. Cycling seems to have become a reoccurring activity for us.. too scared to hire the mopeds. Anyway greenpeace and all that! Thankfully no punctures today, I am sure you will be glad to hear that Mr G! We headed for An Bang beach and had a great afternoon there despite arriving just as a storm started. We hung out in a beach hut and had some beers. After a few hours we headed down the coast to check out Cua Dai Beach before heading back to town. The ride was amazing - through the paddy fields and countryside. Who cares about a wee storm ah?
On handing our bikes back we had a quick splash in the hotel pool before heading back to the room. We are just getting ready to go out for the night. Planning to have a nice meal by the river and watch the floating lanterns.
I will be sad to leave tomorrow when we get an open tour bus to Hue at 2pm. It's a shame we are not staying anywhere long enough to get more settled but alas there's so much more exploring to be done!
