Hi Guys,
Thought it was about time I contributed to the blog. Up until now Jade has taken the reigns, however as she is no longer with me i suppose the responsibility falls on my shoulders. At our last stop, the Taman Negara Rainforest, she got lost on a trek in the jungle and I haven't seen her since. That night at the floating restarant rumours were spreading that she had either been eaten by a Tiger or had joined the indigenous tribe, the Orang Asli. Not to worry though, I have met up with a Thai girl called Frank. She seems really nice and given that Thailand is the next stop she might come in useful. Apart from the news of Jade's disappearance, the Taman Negara was amazing. We went on a few treks, some during the day and one at night, and saw a lots of wildlife. Monkeys (Jade's favourite), Bats, Deer, Water Ox (we think thats what they were called), and a host of insects.
Anyway, I spose I will kick off by updating you from our last blog. The day after writing we were approached by five different people asking us whether we wanted to be in Bollywood. I was even approached whilst brushing my teeth. Unfortunately they were only offering us roles as extras and we had to tell them that the parts was too low key. So instead we met up with Sherri and spent the afternoon lazing around a swimming pool in her neck of the woods. That evening we had our last meal in India, possibily the cheapest meal i have ever had, drinks, 2 curries, a veg biriyani, 2 naans, popadums and rice for 2.70 pounds - absolute bargain - before heading to Singapore the next day.
We didn't see much in Singapore, literally just stayed the night before we headed up to Melaka on the lower west coast. A really laid back city we both enjoyed. However Jade didn't manage to see much of it. On our second day there, after a day at the beach, Jade returned to the hostel with the worst sunburn i have ever seen. Given the bloches of red and white on her skin it seemed as though she thought the only areas sun-tan cream was needed was her shoulders. For the next day, whilst i was exploring, she was bed bound, and for the past week she has been shedding her skin like a snake.
When she could finally get out of bed we moved on to Kuala Lumpur. We didn' think it was anything special. Just another big, cosmopolitan city. We went up the Petronas Towers, which was probably the highlight of the city - you got a really good view. Other than that the only attraction seemed to be shopping malls. Saw an M&S though, and Jade was pleased to find not one but two topshops. We spent three night here before moving to the Taman Negara.
Now I am in the Cameron Highlands. A mountanous region covered in tea plantations and vegetable farms. Its like a little England up in the hills. You can get scones with jam and cream. The weather up here is like England as well. No snow, but it's a lot cooler and sweating is no longer a problem. Have been on a few treks and tomorrow morning I am visiting one of the planatations and a few other places in the area before moving to Georgetown, Penang. Hopefully Jade turns up before the bus leaves. I have bought her a ticket and she knew what our next stop was after the Taman Negara. Fingers Crossed.
Anyway, I will try to update in the next week or so. So for now,
Selamat Tinggal (Goodbye)x
